Enjoy your food. Make time to eat, eat slowly, chew well and let your body tell you when it has had enough.

Think small portions. Reduce the size of your plate to kick the habit of eating too much during a meal.

Follow the 80:20 rule. Allow yourself to be naughty occasionally. Aim for a diet of 80 per cent nutrient-based healthy foods, 20 per cent treats.

Make positive choices. If you want some chocolate, have a piece but have the best quality and savour every mouthful.

DIY. Cooking for yourself gives you control of what is in your food- no more hidden sugars,fats,salt or chemicals.
